At Hopewell, structured work, involvement in a community focused on healing, medication management and therapy give residents a sense of belonging and well-being they have never before experienced. Hopewell's approach to care creates a connection to the earth and each other, a dependable and safe daily structure and opportunities to experience success.
We select from our complete set of nature, work, community and clinical offerings those that are most helpful to each residents’ particular overall journey with us, and to the specific challenges a resident faces any given day. Schedules change a bit each month, but the general structure remains essentially the same. Weekends are less structured and often include off-campus trips, including opportunities to attend worship services.
Staff and residents sit down for a healthy breakfast that could feature eggs from our own chickens.
The community gets moving. Some are educated on medications, others practice in the Hopewell band. Staff lead structured and informal exercise programs.
From gardening to animal care to housekeeping, vocational opportunities at Hopewell help residents find strengths they didn’t know they had, experience new roles, learn new skills, gain job readiness and build self-esteem.
Morning meeting gives everyone the chance to review the day’s activities, ask questions, resolve problems and meet new community members. Morning meetings end with songs from "The Hopewell Songbook."
Residents and staff gather together for a nutritious midday meal.
In the afternoons, residents may participate in more work crews, engage in individual, family, and/or group therapy with our clinicians, work with our psychiatrists, attend sessions that build their independent living skills, pursue educational goals, or enjoy creative expression, sports activities and more.
Residents engage in various forms of healthy exercise such as yoga or qigong.
Vegetables from our garden, Hopewell-raised meats, and homemade baked goods are typical evening fare.
Recreation Time, Off-Campus Trips
Residents participate in off-campus outings, walk in the woods, relax in cottage living rooms or work on the computer.
