Annual Reports

Unrestricted annual gifts from loyal donors, including our staff, strengthen our capacity to honor our mission, expand our programming and most important provide financial assistance for families who otherwise could not afford our care.

Each year, Hopewell provides financial assistance to 95% of our residents' families. Raising the philanthropic revenue to offer this assistance is our highest fundraising priority. During 2016, Hopewell will provide more than $1 million in fee support.

While Hopewell's daily residential community fee is roughly one fifth the cost of a day in an inpatient psychiatric facility, it is still out of reach for most families. Residential mental health care is rarely covered by insurance companies, and government support from all sectors continues to decline. Interest income from Hopewell's endowment helps to allow us to offer financial assistance. However, the Annual Fund and our annual Summer Solstice benefit event provide the most significant portion of our budgeted aid.

Annual Fund gifts are fully tax-deductible. They may be outright cash gifts or gifts of transferred securities.

All donors to the Annual Fund are honored as members of The Perennial Society. They are recognized according to gift level, as follows:

  • $10,000 or more | The Conservationists Circle
  • $5,000 - $9,999 | The Walnut Lane Circle
  • $2,500 - $2,499 | The Maple Circle
  • $1,000 - $2,499 | The Harvesters Circle
  • $500 - $999 | The Gardeners Circle
  • $100 - $499 | The Community Circle

Donors who designate their Annual Fund gifts for resident financial assistance also are recognized as members of The Benefactors Society.

Donors whose lifetime giving to Hopewell has been $25,000 or more are honored as members of The Clara T. Rankin Society in honor of our Founder.
